Love is human. It is flawed, damaged, and imperfect. Despite what the songs and the poems tell you, love does not heal all wounds, and sometimes it just isn’t enough to win out in the end. The people we love disappoint us, break us down, and break our hearts. But that being said, love is also what makes us human. It mirrors our capacity to feel so strongly about someone so much that it diminishes our selfishness, inspires forgiveness, stirs all of our senses, and evokes all the extremes of our emotions. Love is comfort on the darkest day, a beautiful silence that is never awkward, and a strength that emanates from some place you didn’t know existed. However love and how we express it is something that is also constantly changing. It goes through its phases.. from the most blissed out happiness, to confusion, to sadness, to discontent, to sometimes even drawing a blurred line with hatred. But even if it is not apparently imminent, love doesn’t just fade away.. Even if people are no longer in our lives, love is still there, to be reawakened at any moment simply by revisiting the memories of our past.
